The Drainage Basin Dynamics course explores how river basins are built and how they function in the transport of water, as well as particulate and dissolved chemical species from land to the oceans.
The course focuses on the development of computer models describing drainage basin structure and processes. Topics will include how to analyze spatial data using software tools, how to derive river networks from digital elevation models, and how soils and vegetation are distributed over the landscape.
The coupling between the atmosphere and land surface are related to the movement of water down river channels. The origin and transport of particulate and dissolve materials through river systems are evaluated.
Course content is appropriate for upper division undergraduate and graduate students. |
